Here’s what I’ve been up to recently, between looking after a slightly poorly hubby.

I really need to concentrate on my commission work. The 16 Great Eastern Railway coaches are progressing slowly, but I keep getting sidetracked by plastic aeroplane kits. I’ll perhaps go into more depth about that personal hobby project one day.

A clear plastic tub, about cup cake size, filled with parts from a plastic kit aeroplane. There are propellers, wheels, gun turrets, engine covers, and sundry small parts waiting to be attached to the main model once the main painting process is done.
A scale model railway coach body. It’s made of photo-etched brass, which has allowed the wooden framework and panelling to be recreated. Small tin-lead alloy castings have been fitted for door ventilators and the lookout for the guard. I’ve got 16 of these on the go as a commission job.
A 1/72nd scale Vickers Wellington bomber. It is unpainted, pale grey plastic, and the windows have been masked with yellow tape ready for painting to begin. The plane has long tapering wings, and a pair of engines. The fuselage is somewhat rounded in cross section. Part of my obsession with military aviation in 1940.
A 1/72nd scale Short Stirling bomber, another of my 1940 obsession builds. Posed with the wings and tail parts temporarily attached to the fuselage, mainly to show the scale of the aircraft. The Stirling was the biggest four-engined bomber used by the Royal Air Force in the Second World War.
