When we follow the one thing per page pattern, we make it easier to handle new branches of functionality, and even whole new user groups, without ripping up the previous work and starting again

Designers and developers: Before you put all those questions on a massive one-page form, or spin up a single-page app that can't handle deep linking, ask your future self how they'll feel about that

This isn't Big Design Up Front. You don't need to know what all those future user stories will be, only that the world will change and your service will need to change rapidly in response
