Excluding the Star Trek type (badge and flip) communicators, what are some iconic/easily recognisable/just plain cool sci-fi/etc comms devices?
Not that I'm easily influenced, but I recently saw a short video of a repurposed classic walkie-talkie being used to interact with the new Home Assistant voice assistant features, and, well, I've got a 3D printer and I'm not afraid to use it

@matstace What comes to mind:

* Communicator used by C3PO/Luke Skywalker in the original movie (trash compactor scene) - basically just a small tube, and AFAIK only shown in that scene, so probably not very recognizable and probably hard to find proper details on it for modelling

* Communicator badges attached to the back of the hand in Babylon 5 - lots of visual references, but small and flat, so a walkie-talkie is not an option.

@frederic The Babylon 5 communicator might be a bit beyond my soldering abilities, but the Star Wars comm-link is a great shout, thank you.

@matstace Dick Tracy's wristwatch tv/radio

@Strontelius I'm going to have to learn how to 3D model, just so I can make a Dick Tracy watch-case for my pixel watch, I can tell.

@MrTechGadget Ooh, yes, an absolute classic. And I bet the slide could be wired up to activate the PTT-like function that the Home Assistant voice assistant would need.
