It's good when we get external people using Github issues with us on projects. It makes it so much easier having each issue/bug/thing as its own thread rather than having endless back and forth emails to trawl through to piece things together.

My favourite swipe typo of the day: "Norse cancelling headphones". Presumably that means Bluetooth is turned off.

wordle, language

Wordle was annoying yesterday, but I think it’s fair to say I came close to glory yet ultimately shamed myself with my final guess, which I reveal for you now.

birdsite

This stupid tweet from the birdsite has been doing the business today (compared to most of my content). Gnosticism is clearly the way.

At The Trades Club (again) for a recording of two editions of the BBC R3 Northern Drift programme. Absolutely blown away by Carmel Smickersgill. Mike Garry and Claire Askew also amazing. I’m truly spoiled to have this on my doorstep.

This is a great article laying out the broad case against crypto (via @Naich). I’m particularly taken with Weaver’s Iron Law of Blockchain: “When somebody says you can solve X with blockchain, they don’t understand X, and you can ignore them.”

"Back in 2013, I thought it was amusing and silly, and I could get cool papers out of it. In 2018, I thought it was amusing, but pretty bad. [In 2022], [...] I just want to take the entire cryptocurrency space and throw it into the sun. I know astronomers will tell you it’s easier to throw something into the void of space than to throw it into the sun. But it’s worth the extra energy to make sure some alien doesn’t find this mental virus." - UC-Berkeley’s Nicholas Weaver

We’re trying to get a @ukhealthcamp going for this year, see if we can get the engine restarted!

Our biggest challenge is always finding a venue. Can you help us find a venue to support the event?

We have a venue specification here: ukhealthcamp.com/venue-specifi

This is my last post that will be crossposted from the fediverse to Twitter. There are folks here with legitimate reasons to not want their posts forwarded to that hellhole and I want to be able to boost their thoughts while respecting their wishes and safety.

I was crossposting to raise awareness about the fediverse. Chances are, if you’re not interested yet, you won’t be.

You can keep following me at mastodon.ar.al/@aral and learn more about the fediverse at fediverse.info

Short @runningpunks today with younger daughter and dog. Nothing else to report!

So why tell me about this?
