This is going to the market with me tomorrow along with some sourdough loaves, turmeric double chocolate brownies, pain au fromage, focaccia, doughnuts and some arty bits. I doubt anyone on here is near Lairg,but if you are……

@drnaturegirl Looking good! I've just baked my Christmas Stollen - my recipe says that you can / should store it for between 3 and 5 weeks before eating.

But I'm wondering if I can also delay the brushing it with melted butter and dusting with layers of icing sugar for that length of time as well.

As someone who looks like they know what they're doing, what do you think?

@fork Yes. As long as it’s well wrapped you can leave that until the last minute. Properly cooked, wrapped and stored, they’ll keep for up to a couple of months, although they’d not stand much of a chance here!

@drnaturegirl Thank you! I quite like experimenting a bit with recipes once I've done them a few times. Leaving a loaf of surgery bread / cake wrapped up for several weeks makes sense, but all that butter? Maybe not! So thanks for confirming.
