@bbcmicrobot The idea that The Great Wave is fractal goes back to Mandelbrot himself, tho I've not seen an attempt to render it with fractals? I tweaked the editor to have a background image to help with choosing the parameters.

@bbcmicrobot in case anyone wants to do similar tracery: I used the developer console to add this to the div with id "emulator".
