It's not 1995 anymore. We can do four-letter extensions (and lower-case filenames!!)
@rl_dane I don't disagree.
HOWEVER;
Using mixed case, (upper ASCII, etc) and filenames that aren't 8.3 compliant seriously hampers how many MP3s I can put on a USB stick and still have the car's player see them.
In fairness, it's not the file naming that's the issue, but the /extremely/ basic software the car is stuck with. 
As a result, I have 4 USB sticks in the car, that I rotate on a monthly basis.
OUCH. Yeah, car radios are notoriously bad. There's been cases where a filename or a podcast description (just being displayed through BT) has caused radios to be bricked.
@rl_dane Feck! I've not heard that before. Time for some research, I think.
@rl_dane After a quick search, all I find reference to is (some) Mazdas in the Seattle area of Washington.
Still, if it's happened once..........
