@dns @peter @alecthegeek you might consider as an alternative to HA 😁
Also supported by Tasmota device firmware so providing a similar non-cloud HA solution. Installs available on many platforms; personally I use my Synology NAS to host it but I'd suggest you choose a RPi as it's more flexible. Reviews suggest it is a more closed solution, which is true, however it's also less technical to set up. YMMV.
