Thanks everyone! Got a lot of good recommendations. Appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions. Probably got enough to explore for now
Hey Mastodon hive mind. What's a good self-hosted RSS reader? I currently use TT-RSS but the attitude of the developer is really frustrating. Needs: Google reader type shortcuts and feel if possible
(Feedly annoys my husband, so not that one)
@CatherineFlick I read this last toot in isolation and it read liked you had other husband options.. lol.
I use Feedly (mainly music blogs, migrated from Twitter) but have struggled to find something better/simpler.
Many solutions are based around an aggregator service rather than a client side app, but I don't really understand why.
I'm reading this thread with interest.
@CatherineFlick would a browser addon be acceptable?
@CatherineFlick (i have similar issue with tt-rss)
@mawhrin yeah, really off putting (I mean I realise he has no obligation to me but yikes)
@CatherineFlick so if shared/multi-user/social features of tt-rss and mobile client are not a hard requirement, the unfortunately named feedbro is a pretty powerful rss reader.
@CatherineFlick (and it seems that since last time i looked at freshrss, it gained support for offloading authentication to oidc, which makes it viable for multi-user installs; i need to have a look; being able to finally ditch tt-rss would make my day.)
